Article dump
I’ve been reading a bunch of interesting stuff lately- er uhm, interesting to me at least. They are worth a share and if they strike you in any way, I’d love to hear what you think about the articles/topics.
First off- this one was from a little while ago. It’s about how magazines, specifically business magazines, could potentially save their asses. All of print is hurting right now becuase the old model has been unrepairably broken by the internet. I think a lot of bike magazines are going to be killed off in the next year or two. I’ve been thinking that they should essentially be doing all web distribution and then pop out the occasional photo print issue for the nerds like me who still want some tangible physical thing to flip through but get my daily/weekly fix online for the news and stories.
anyways, I’m glad some folks are calling out the suckers from the old school on how they might at least slow the nose dive of print media: http://www.techcrunch.com/2009/05/07/how-fortune-forbes-and-businessweek-can-save-themselves/

Everyone who is cool knows The Onion is fantastic in every way immaginable. This just proves it even harder.

I’m really glad that I’m not the only one looking for more authenticity in “porn”… not that I’m a connoisseur of porn but I am very aware of my media saturated life and how much glossy, slimy stuff is ever present. I just am horribly turned off by Maxim style airbrushed portrayals of reality. I like photoshop in some ways but I liked human beings first and seeing imperfections can be pretty damn charming. Real photos taken of real people will always be infinitely more riqsue and sexy to me than digitally doctored images of fake boobed phonies. I wonder how long until the pendulum of the mass media and advertising swings towards a more honest portrayal of sex/sexiness or if it ever will?

My new place has two cats in it. The lives of cats are a complete mystery to me. Their daily routine is so absurd that I can’t believe they actually exist sometimes. But then I see something like this and realize that people are the bigger mystery. Japan must produce at least 90% of the weird shit in the world.
But good lordy, kitties are adorable.
