Elf in America
I just got this tip off to read an online comic strip called American Elf. It’s been made into four volumes of books so far too and I guess it’s going pretty well for the guy. Anyways, I had a slow day at work and read through till last December so far and while I wasn’t all that into it at first, it grew on me really fast. Once you figure out that the guy is giving himself a maximum of four frames to cover his day in this comic diary, you realize the skill that goes into such a brief summary. Some of them are hilarious and some of them are just these little fleeting moments that we often forget, take for granted, and never realize that they are what make life bearable.
And then as you keep digging you run into these moments about boners or childhood or love that make you feel like you’re not alone in the world. And all that profound meaning fits into four frames or less.
Dang.
I can’t wait for the next slow day at work to pick up where I left off.

Yeah, hope you enjoy it as much as I am.

I don’t really get all these text as image things that are popping up all over these days. There’s entire blogs of just this junk. But I guess you excuse it when one of them really “speaks” to you like the dork you are.

Oh Snap!thology.
This has to be one of the weirdest things I’ve ever seen.
Somehow I feel like that was a prequel to this… which really is actually probably one of the weirdest things I’ve ever seen. Just watch it. Watch it until you get it (Steve).
Or at least until you find it hilarious.

Jacqueline knows the score.

Simple Directions.
This is a swell project.

Last one rocks my socks well off.

US needs more advertising like this. Holy crap I want those Ass-Nachos.

Empire shreds Colorado.
I’m not cool enough to be hip to these things before they happen but I sure do love seeing naitonal shredders come through turf that I am familiar with and just shut it down.

Who wants to drive through that field of cactus?

Oh HMS Pinnafore.
The Cos’, ya see.
Defgrip just posted this recently and I have to repost it here. This is awesome. I love how the pace of the interview slowly switches over to the pace of his storytelling. And yet he keeps you in the audience and the host and other guest involved. He’s clearly leading the show at that point but not in an arrogant, commanding way. He’s still bringing you along for the ride. That’s some good storytelling skill.

Now that is a cool piece of art to have on you.
