Fuzzy Insides

This was one of the most painfully awkward (which is to say hilarious) animations I’ve seen in years.

If you get any kind of chance to see it, do not pass up on it. I hope it makes its way online after it’s done doing the festival tour thing. Probably the best 5 minutes of my night.

That knee replacement seems shifty but I guess when you’re a cyborg-deer you take what you can get. I’d probably run it and knowing my knees, that one might work better. Or is that considered a “wrist” for a deer? Whatever. It looks neat.

That’s just so unfortunate.

Now I gotta know that this shit exists, great. That’s just grand.

fixed mtb street.

sigh. Calling that even remotely MTB is like calling the space shuttle a good daily commuter sedan. Or like calling getting your fingernails twisted off with a pair of pliers a manicure. Or getting your genitals slammed in a car door and calling it a hand job. All of which I would rather believe in over the idea of “fixed mtb street”… it can exist but call it something else so that it doesn’t sully the already completely lacking street cred of mountain bikes as a whole.

Last Week’s Music (for me).

with one comment

Here’s some music that’s been in heavy rotation for me in the last week. It’s all just great stuff and if you don’t think so, then you’re probably just Steve Wentz and don’t really even like music.

First of all, I somehow missed this little Amy Winehouse ditty. I sure hope she pulls her shit together. The world could use a few more albums from her and the Dap Kings.

I’m trying to learn this on the old guitar but the tuning is goofy and it’s really throwing me off for being such a simple song. Still, if I just get close, it feels good to sound similar.

Great couple of Son House covers from the White Stripes.

And here’s the original, try to listen to this song and these words and not feel Son House’s pain. If you feel nothing, check your pulse you cold hearted bastard.

I’m trying to learn this one too but haven’t been too lucky.

Maybe because I’m trying to play this version by the Black Keys and Dan Aurbach has about a ten thousand times more experience playing a guitar. By the way, I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: This Is My All Time Favorite Song. The first time I heard this was like when people think they found Jesus. And I don’t mean the rough shape in a potato chip, I mean like the warm feeling of salvation and finding your way in the world.

These colors are the best looking stuff in the world.

Green Pea-ness

leave a comment »

So I used to love watching The Critic when I was a kid but I was way too young to get most of the jokes on it. I hope to catch up on the series now that I am a fully growed up big kid and have one of those fancy “film degrees” and all. Anyways, there are lines from the show that I still say all the time all these years later.

And no one gets them. And I just look like a weirdo every time I say them.

This is one example that I still say every time I ever see peas, frozen or otherwise:

Full of country goodness and green pea-ness. Oh Orsen Wells. You started as Citizen Kane and ended as Unicron, the planet sized Transformer.

And here are some Wondermark! comics because it’s been a while since I’ve shared any around here.

And by the way, I’m off the facebooks. If you want to be friends, you’re going to have to be old fashioned friends with me. Sorry for the dreadful inconvenience.

These damn interblag comics are hilarious to me.

I’m that old?

Here’s something to think about…

Disturbed Tenth Aniversary release.

I always hated that band and their monkey scrawing music and to think that I hated it ten years ago makes me feel old. And for once, I kinda like that. Who’s buying that shit by the way? Hopefully not you.

This is the coolest bike video I’ve seen in years I reckon. No exaggeration.

For many reasons:

-It made me say “no fucking way.”

-It made me look for a green screened ramp.

-It make me laugh hysterically.

-Other pros in the video cannot believe their eyes.

-It’s just a bunnyhop that inspires such awe.

-Ty Morrow is pretty modest about it.

-And more. Oh so much more.

Oh yeah, internets.

Hay internet.

I’ve been missing a lot of internet lately… Well, I wouldn’t say I’ve been missing it, Bob.

I finally took the dive and got myself a new hobby that I’ve been eyeing up for the last 4 or 5 years. A pawn shop in Denver was fatefully holding onto this one waiting for me to come scoop it up:

Mid-60s Silvertone 3/4 size toy guitar. And with new strings on it, the thing sounds like melty golden butter dip. It also makes my fingers hurt like damn hell.

I also saw another thing yelling my name at a local music store but wasn’t sure what the heck it was. A few days of fruitless scouring of the interblags yielded no help. So I finally just said screw it and went and purchased the damn thing. I don’t regret it for a second. Fender Straight Six, some limited run of 831, a stripped down version of their standard strat. I plug it in and assuming my hand is in the right place, it sounds just dandy to me.

So far I’ve got the Black Keys’ cover of Junior Kimbrough’s “My Mind is Ramblin'” sort of down and I’m stumbling through the first 15 seconds of “Meet Me In The City”…

If only I had just quit being a scared little wimp and started this 4-5 years ago, I might be shredding right now?!

See ya later internet, new hobby time is upon me.

And that’s the story of how we got rid of that cursed lemon tree.
